One-on-one yoga and C-IAYT (Certified Yoga Therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists) represent different approaches to yoga instruction and application:

One-on-One Yoga:

  • Focus: Primarily on physical postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and sometimes meditation.

  • Goals: Typically tailored to the individual's needs and preferences, often focusing on improving flexibility, strength, stress reduction, or general well-being.

  • Instructor: A yoga teacher with a 200-hour or more certification, but not necessarily specialized training in therapeutic applications of yoga.

  • Session Structure: Typically follows a general format but can be adapted to the individual's abilities and goals.

  • Benefits: Personalized attention, modifications for specific needs, and a comfortable environment for beginners or those with specific concerns.

    ree

C-IAYT (Certified Yoga Therapist):

  • Focus: On the therapeutic application of yoga for specific health conditions or goals.

  • Goals: May include pain management, anxiety reduction, stress management, rehabilitation, or improving quality of life for those with chronic illnesses.

  • Therapist: A highly trained professional with at least 800 hours of additional training in yoga therapy, anatomy, physiology, and the application of yoga to various health conditions.

  • Session Structure: Highly individualized, involving an initial assessment, development of a personalized yoga therapy plan, and ongoing evaluation and adjustment.

  • Benefits: Evidence-based approach, specific focus on health conditions, and expertise in adapting yoga practices for individual needs.
